TODD MCQUILLAN
MEMORIAL ARTS FUND
To honor Todd ’s memory his family and friends have generously donated their time and money to create the Todd McQuillan Memorial Arts Fund.
Todd McQuillan Memorial Arts Fund has been very busy with SASEF project “Nos Podemos” or “Lets Go” a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) award winning youth social consciousness group working in the Escola Jose do Patrocinio elementary and secondary school in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
The “Nos Podemos” project facilitates initiatives based on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). In 2006 “Nos Podemos” participated in Bono’s One Campaign and “Stand Up Against Poverty” a world wide campaign to bring awareness to the MDG’s.
The “Stand Up Against Poverty” event featured an eleven year old girl named Jessica. Jessica ’s incredible voice moved the audience as she sang about the injustice of poverty and our combined responsibility to get involved and do something about it – there was not a dry eye in the auditorium – We Stood Up Against Poverty!
Because Todd’s family and friends have so generously donated to honor him it was possible for us to sponsor little Jessica in her solo debut to sing in the Christmas 2006 Performance by the Brazilian Philharmonic Orchestra known as OSPA.
SASEF collaborators like Junior Achievement, Rotary Club, UNESCO, International Women’s Club and more are in the process of creating a children’s choir at Escola Jose do Patrocinio where Jessica attends school. We begin with the purchase of a piano.
Todd ’s donors have helped to make the piano purchase a reality under the professional guidance of international singer from Charlotte, NC Jennifer Shelton-Licko www.jenniferlicko.com, who currently lives is Porto Alegre, Brazil. Thank you Jennifer for all your hard work and dedication!
Your continued support through donations can make it possible for the Todd McQuillan Memorial Arts Fund to be an ongoing fund dedicated to bringing the arts to children and youth all over the world.
We invite you to join our email list to receive updates on the projects that your generous donations are making in the lives of children.
