Transitioning from student to employee can be a daunting experience but add in the challenge of being hired to work for a multinational company in your home country which may be a developing country.
This phenomenon is known as 'local hire" or 'hiring locally" – being hired by the global company in your community is an honor and provides tremendous economic benefit to the individual, their family and the community but it’s not always an easy transition.
There are new challenges for the employee and employer alike; culture, language, ethics and work expectations. There may be a lack of experience and role models to help young people understand just how much is expected of them in order to achieve their dreams.
Our mentoring projects work with the employer to ensure the expectations are made clear to the new 'local hire". We also work corporate management to help them understand the culture of the people they are working with. Building relations between national and international communities is not easy but it can be successfully achieved.
