In
2006 we continue our core programs to "eradicate
poverty through education" by aggressively
taking action with the United Nations Millennium
Development Goals and new ideas are; supporting
Brazilian Youth Representation to the UN Children's
Conference and joining the Fight to Stop Child Sex
Tourism through education.
THE GOAL OF SASEF IS TO CREATE A WORLD IN
WHICH CHILDREN HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN THE VERY
BASIC SKILLS THAT WILL LIFT THEM OUT OF THE LEGACY
OF ABJECT POVERTY and give them a fighting
chance for a better future.
SASEF programs are continuously evaluated to address
the unfulfilled needs that arise during implementation.
Documenting, publishing and distributing our findings
will help others create initiatives that allow every
child a basic and quality education regardless of
gender, economic status, and race or health concerns.
SASEF is committed to creating programs that will
eradicate poverty through education!
We
are improving their prospects for a better life and
they in turn are teaching the next generation the
importance of education.
Educate
Every Child
This
program teaches developmental education to children
in the classroom. We explain the inter-workings of
global governmental agencies that work to benefit
children and we introduce United Nations programs
for children. The goals of The Rights of The Child
are discussed and it affects on the lives of children
living in other countries.
Through
game play students learn how international non governmental
agencies differ from non profit organizations and
the important role diplomatic missions play in helping
other countries. Part of the program is dedicated
to teaching the students how to create, administer
and evaluate a project in their prospective communities.
We discuss the reasons to create community projects
and put the project in motion for the class. The goal
is to teach and motivate students to have a better
understanding of what people living in poverty face
and how they can actively participate and make a difference.
The projects are evaluated by peer students in the
areas of sustainability, environment, and budget vs.
actual costs, time management, and effectiveness.
The
International Mentoring Partnership
Transitioning from student
to employee can be a daunting experience but add in
the challenge of being hired to work for a multi national
company in your home country which may be a developing
country.
This
phenomenon is know as 'local hire" or 'hiring
locally" – being hired by the global company
in your community is an honor and provides tremendous
economic benefit to the individual, their family and
the community but its not always an easy transition.
There are new challenges for the employee and employer
alike; culture, language, ethics and work expectations.
There may be a lack of experience and role models
to help young people understand just how much is expected
of them in order to achieve their dreams.
Our
mentoring projects work with the employer to ensure
the expectations are made clear to the new 'local
hire". We also work corporate management to help
them understand the culture of the people they are
working with. Building relations between national
and international communities is not easy but it can
be successfully achieved.
The
Day Projects
Educating children
and youth on the benefits youth service initiatives
have on our society. In collaboration with global
youth initiatives SASEF organizes youth in recognized
day campaigns like Global Youth Day, HIV/AIDS Day,
International Youth Day, and Hands Up for Girls Education.
Youth participate in day projects teaching them 'how
to" successfully plan and participate in global
awareness campaigns. They learn the responsibility,
value and impact volunteering has on the individual
and its community.
